What I do in a day during the summer! (aka… why I never update)

Hello everyone!!

I’m OBSESSED with those “Get-ready-with-me” vids on Youtube, and even though this isn’t a youtube channel and I can’t fake my morning, I thought I’d write down how my summer days USUALLY look like, since people are always asking me why I never have time to write.

Well, here is why!!

On a TYPICAL summer day, this is what I do from the moment I wake up, to the moment I go to bed.

6:30AM: My phone alarm goes off, and I immediately get out of bed (on a good day). I head right to the bathroom to go pee, wash my teeth, and force myself out of bed. Then, I’ll go back into my room, pull on workout clothes, and rub deodorant under my arms.

Downstairs, I drink a glass of water while I stretch my legs. Usually I do toe-touches, pull my feet to my butt, etc. After I finish the large glass of water, I fill up my Nalgene water bottle (you can get it here for like, $11. it’s huge, and amazing, and I bring it everywhere) and pull on my running shoes and grab my car keys.

Between 6:45AM & 7:00AM: I drive to the beach to run, since I live on the coast. I try to leave the house by 6:45, but c’mon, we’re not all perfect. Then I’ll run for about a mile or two, depending on the day, how much time I have, and what the weather is like. The run is actually pretty decent and quiet during this time of the morning.

7:20AM: I usually get back from my run around this time, sometimes earlier. I shower at night, so I usually go and only wash my face from the run and reapply deodorant. Then I  go straight to the coffee machine and make myself a cup of hazelnut coffee.

My dad usually leaves around this time for work, so I say goodbye and hug him before he leaves. Yes, I live with my dad during the summers. I’m a broke college student who can’t afford NOT to live with my family during the summer.

7:30AM: I can’t go to work in my running clothes, so I go and get changed into my work clothes. I work in a place where my outfits get messy/ripped, so I wear t-shirts and shorts (and leggings!) most of the time. So I’ll grab whatever is around, and decide it’s good enough.

7:40AM: Usually this is when I take out my breakfast and hunker down in the kitchen to eat it with my laptop open. I love overnight oats, so I make those at night and eat them in the morning, and it’s my fave meal. It’s SO easy and quick to make. It’s literally oats, milk, honey, and whatever else you want to add.

  1. THE NIGHT BEFORE, grab a mason jar (or any container, I like mason jars) and fill it with equal parts oatmeal and milk. I use 2%, but you can use whatever you like (almond milk, whole milk, 1%, coconut milk, whatever)
  2. Add honey!! (or don’t. this is what I like)
  3. Put it in the fridge
  4. THE NEXT MORNING, pull it out. Shake it around, then add whatever you want. I add granola and banana in the morning, but get CRAZY. Add some berries. Add some fruit. Add none of that and just eat the oats! I don’t care 😀

Alright. Dumb recipe, but there you go. You’ll thank me later.

While I’m eating, I’ll go on my laptop and reply to messages on Wattpad, reply to comments on my stories, mess around on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, really whatever I want to do for the next 40 minutes. Sometimes, I turn on the news and watch that. Sometimes, I even WRITE, but I try not to (40 minutes sounds like a lot of time… but when you get into it, stopping mid-chapter can be hard and I try to avoid writing when I don’t have a lot of time).

8:15AM: I leave my house to pick up a co-worker, and we head to Dunkin’ Donuts for an iced coffee run before work. Yes, I’m addicted to dunks. And yes, I get it like, every morning before work. And YES, I drink a cup of hot coffee and then get an iced coffee.

9:00AM – 6:00PM: I’m in work!! I work an 8 hour shift, with an hour lunch break at 1PM, which sounds luxurious, but usually it’s about enough time for my co-worker and myself to go into town, get something to eat, and return. We don’t do this every day (in fact, we usually go to her house and I bring a sandwich)

6:00PM: I’m out of work, and it’s time to chill. This is when I have the MOST free time of the day.

Some nights, I go out with friends to get ice cream, or to go to the movies, or to go late afternoon shopping at our fave stores. If I’m not going out with friends, I get changed out of my clothes and put on lounge clothes (usually sweatpants). Then, I’ll join my dad in the living room and we’ll talk about our days at work. We’ll swap funny stories. Watch the evening news. I’ll mess around on my laptop and probably play Sims (I love sims… I just bought the city life expansion pack to add to my collection)

7:00PM: Usually this is when I eat dinner, which my dad cooks. It’s typically some type of meat and salad. We’ll eat together in the kitchen usually, and talk about whatever comes up in conversation. I’m very close with my father, and spend a lot of time with him because of it. He’s def one of my best friends.

After dinner, I go upstairs and start the shower. I’ll light a candle in my room (i’m obsessed with bath and body works!!) and then I’ll get into the shower. I usually listen to Chill Nation songs in the shower (lol, don’t judge me. I’m into the Blackbear remixes right now cause i love him)

When I get out of the shower, I take a spoonful of coconut oil and swish it around in my mouth for 20 minutes. While I do that, I get into my robe, sit in bed, and try to write. Or, I’ll get stuff done that HAS to be done (like budgeting… yikes).

After the 20 minutes are up, I spit out the oil and brush my teeth. Then I lotion up my body and put on pajamas. By this time, it’s usually 8:00, or 8:30. I’ll go downstairs, and my dad and I will try to watch a movie, if we’re feeling it. If not, I’ll write on my laptop.

9:30PM/10:00PM: This is about the time I try to go to bed. Right before sleeping, I read a few chapters from a book, set my alarms, and say goodnight to my dad. My hair is definitely still wet (I don’t blow dry my hair, I let it air-dry) but I don’t really do anything to stop it from getting the pillow wet. I also have to put Argon oil on my face, cause I have  CRAZY dry skin, and I’ll put in a leave-in conditioner in my hair, because it can always use more moisturizer.

So. That’s a typical day in my life. I work five days a week, so this schedule is what most of my week looks like. It’s repetitive as shit, and I don’t get a lot of variation from working and what not, but I try to have as much fun as I can. I go out with friends every chance I get, including on my days off, and so that leaves little time to write and update, as you can see.

But I still try!!

It’s summer!

Hi guys!

I know, I know, I’ve been nonexistent. But, honestly, school is such a soul sucker sometimes. I’m super busy during the school year that this part of my life takes a back seat to everything else.

But, it’s summer! And that means more reading, more writing, and more blogging. Hopefully.

Now that it’s summer, I thought I’d give an update on my life. Not that anyone reads this blog anyway

Returning to that resolutions list (the one I wrote in January), I’m going to talk about how I’ve been, what I’ve been up to, and all that jazz. Now that it’s summer, I’m back to running before work. I go into work at 9:00am most mornings (sometimes 8:00am) and I tend to fit in a quick run in the morning. So I’m doing that resolution. For those interested, I usually run about a mile in the mornings, which is horrible for me. Last summer, I was running up to 4 miles in the morning. Hopefully we’ll get back to that point! I’ve started using the couch-to-5K app on my iPhone, which helps runners prepare to run 3.1 miles in 5 weeks. Of course, I want to back to my 4 mile runs in 5 weeks, but i’ve been loosely following that. If you’re interested in learning more, just leave a comment!

I also wanted to finish my spring semester with a 3.8 GPA… which I was close to achieving. My semester GPA was a 3.7. Shucks. But, college is hard, friends.

I haven’t gotten into journaling. Yet. But I bought a journal, and that’s the first step right? Do any of you journal? I’m interested to know what you do/journal about.

I’m not anywhere close to getting an apartment, but that’s going to happen soon. I graduate from college next year… and that’s certainly scary. Once I graduate, I’ll have to get an apartment. Yikes. Also, my money situation is poor, despite how much I work. But, we’ll get there. If I stop buying books and candles and clothes.

For those who don’t know, I go camping on the weekends in the summer as well. I’m pretty outdoorsy, and active. Who else likes camping? Leave a comment if you do, or if you’d like to start camping! Camping is honestly one of the reasons my family is so close. We’ve spend weekends together crammed in a camper for over 14 years… how can’t you be close? (that’s right folks. my family has been camping on the weekends for over 14 years. Every. single. weekend. in the summer. wow.)

My 2017

Hello everyone!

It’s that time of the year again: resolutions! Only, I don’t like calling it that, because resolutions imply that the only thing that matters is the end goal, which isn’t true. What matters is the journey and how you get to the end.

So, where do I want to be at the end of 2017?

  • I want to read at least 100 books this year. I’m going to make a goodreads account and list every single book I read
  • I want to start a journal, and get into journaling.
  • I want to finish The Devil Child, which is a story I’m currently writing on Wattpad
  • I want to finish The Burning Prince, which is another story I’ve just begun on Wattpad
  • I want to complete this upcoming spring semester with at least a 3.8 GPA, and the following fall semester with the same.
  • I want to start running and exercising.
  • I want to save enough money where I can begin to look into buying an apartment and not feel overwhelmed about the price
  • I want to improve my description skills

These are just a few things I want to work on this year. Every year, I hope that it will be my year! but then it never is. This year, I’m not looking for that. This year, I want to feel comfortable in my own skin, I want to be proud of my writing skills, I want to dominate school, and I want to drown in books.

Enough with resolutions that never get achieved. I’m ready to be the best me I can, and I’m ready to kill it this year, writing wise.

College and Beyond

Wow, hi everyone

It has been a while, huh?

So, the last time I posted anytime, it was summer, and the only commitment I had was working. And it was so easy to read and work and run a blog. It was incredibly easy. However, now that school has started up again, yikes.

I have like, no time to do anything. However, I’m slowly posting chapters still, trying to read a book in between classes and having jobs and a social life, and wow. College is hard. As someone who is leaping into their third year at college, I can tell everyone that it isn’t all fun and games and getting invited to cool parties.

No, my friends. There are 8 am classes, three hour classes, back to back classes, long days at work, long homework assignments, and surprise quizzes. All in the first two weeks of classes. How fun.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love college much more than I ever loved high school. In fact, I would trade nothing to go back to that time. I hated my high school, I hated my classmates, and I hated everything about the classes in high school. College is so much more free.

But also, I’m busier. I spend less time in classes, but when I’m not in class, I’m working or with friends. Which again, is not bad. But leaves very little time for some well deserved I-time. Which means, I’m not writing like I used to.

To those in college, and those starting college, I’m sure you can agree with me when I say college is better in every way, but also a full time commitment. Whether that commitment be to classes, running to the dining hall, giving in when your friends beg to hang out, or slaving over the counter at your part-time job, you’re always doing something.

And when you’re not? You feel like you need to go do something, because you’re wasting the day away just laying in bed.

So. I am alive and well. I am drowning in college life. And I am trying to read and write as much as possible. But sometimes, it just isn’t.

Quilting 101

Good morning everyone!

Like the name of this post suggests, today I’ll be talking about quilting!

So, I’m the sort of person always looking for a hobby. Like, writing is a hobby, but I’m always searching for more things to do, more ways to spice up my life. And now I’ve taken up quilting.

So far, it’s been fun! And I’d love to show you what the quilt looks like when I’m finished with it. If I ever finish it.

So, first things first, I ordered the fabric on Amazon.com. It’s called Sandy Gervais Sweetness in a Jelly Roll, by Moda fabrics. And it’s so cute! Like, before I ordered it online, I was nervous to see if I’d really like it. But it came in a mail, and it’s gorgeous!


Look at this fabric! It’s so cute, ahhh. And best thing is that these are precut into the perfect sized strips (well… width wise. Length wise, you have to cut them yourselves to get the perfect size). And they’re so soft. I think I’m going to really love quilting! And you can find them here if you too like quilting.

I haven’t done anything with my strips yet. I picked out my favorites and then cut them to size, but I have yet to do any real sewing. Fingers crossed I’ll get to that soon!













In these two photos are my cut pieces of fabric!! I’ve picked 10 different patterns, and I cut them each at 4.5 inches long. And then I put them in a little baggie so I wouldn’t lose them when it came time to actually sewing them together. Pretty neat!

I will definitely post a “done” version of this quilt when I do finish. And if you guys are more interested in a “how-to-do-this” type post, I can do that with my next quilt! (aka, walk more in depth of what I’m doing, add more pictures, etc.)

Laptops and Diets

So, I’ve been meaning to grab a new laptop for literally ever. Of course, I had a crappy acer laptop that was slow, grubby, and I hated navigating it. And I’d had plans to buy a new macbook pro by the end of this summer (thanks to my summer job) but guess what.

That crappy acer? Broke down on my at the beginning of July. That’s right – left me high and dry the moment that Camp Nanowrimo began.

What the actual heck? So, that new laptop that was going to be an end of summer treat? Is now a mid summer treat.

So yay! The Macbook I’ve been meaning to get is finally mine. And all I can say is how much I’ve missed Mac’s.

A long, long time ago, the summer before my freshman year, I got a macbook. Very white, very new, very exciting. And I was in love. Of course, I was all Apple since elementary school. My elementary school had Mac desktops in the computer lab. My middle school gave out macbook laptops. And now I’d had my very own.

Of course, said laptop would be later destroyed four years later during my freshman year of college, after some guy dumped his water bottle all over my backpack, which of course held my laptop.

Fast forward almost two years later, and now I have another mac, yet again. Very silver, very new, very exciting. Plus free Beats headphones.

So yeah, I’m pretty pumped right now.

But the other part of today’s entry is to talk about this new diet I’m on. It’s day 6 and I’m hungry.

Basically it’s called the 24 day challenge. No dairy, no bread, no pasta, no rice, no sugars. All I eat is salad, fruit, meats, and veggies. And it’s honestly not the worst thing I’ve ever done. Except for when we bake cookies at work… then it’s the worst idea I’ve ever had.

I did it last october and came out victorious. And I felt better, lost some weight, and honestly it was really nice to be able to feel good in my clothes. But aha, I didn’t stick with it and def gained it all back. So here I am again, trying to be healthy.

Day 6… only 18 more days to go. Ha ha.. aha… ha

Camp NanoWrimo

Hi friends!

This week in what’s going on in my life, I want to talk about Camp NaNoWrimo to kick things off. This blog is new, so yeah.

Camp NaNoWrimo is happening in a few days! During the month of July, Camp NaNoWrimo hosts a challenge where writers can create their word count goal, enter in their story idea, and work towards finishing and getting to the word count goal. Camp NaNoWrimo always takes place in July, and I am a huge fan of NaNoWrimo. Like, the biggest fan ever.
